Skyline Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
MELISSA O’CONNELL • St. Joseph’s College-Long Island
Sophomore • Middle Hitter • Amityville, N.Y. (St. John the Baptist HS)
St. Joseph’s College sophomore middle hitter Melissa O’Connell was named to the all-tournament team at the Oneonta State Invitational after leading the Golden Eagles to a 2-2 mark. For the week, she hit .319 (25-12-72) while averaging 1.84 kills and 0.26 blocks per game. O’Connell also hit .500 (6-0-12) in leading St. Joseph’s to a 3-1 win over Old Westbury. She also recorded 12 kills in a 3-2 win over Hunter at Oneonta.

St. Joseph’s College junior Terri Leonard earned a pair of three-set victories in singles play last week to remain unbeaten in singles on the season. Leonard prevailed in a super-tiebreaker against Sage, winning 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 at third singles. She also teamed with Danielle Rufrano for an 8-5 victory at second doubles. Against a strong Hunter team, Leonard moved up to second singles and rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory.
Skyline Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

Freshman • Midfielder • Shoreham, N.Y. (Shoreham-W.R. HS)
St. Joseph’s College freshman midfielder Craig Cerutti earns Rookie of the Week honors after recording a hat trick to lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 victory over Old Westbury, handing the Panthers their first conference loss. Ceruti notched what proved to be the game-winning goal just 5:04 into the match as St. Joseph’s jumped ahead early. He now ranks third on the team with five goals and 11 points.
SKYLINE HONOR ROLL
Men's Soccer - Mike Dougherty - Dougherty, a goalkeeper, recorded shutout victories against Purchase and Old Westbury, totaling 12 saves.
Women's Soccer - Jackie Barbour - Barbour’s goal in the 88th minute gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 win over Old Westbury.
Men's Cross Country - Mike Merolle - Merolle, a first-year runner,
finished 16th at Mount Saint Mary (30:46).
Women's Cross Country - Stephanie Aiello - Aiello finished ninth (22:43) at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, leading the Golden Eagles to a third-place team finish out of 15 teams.
